YOU -- YES, YOU! -- CAN INCREASE HANNIBAL'S RATINGS. HERE'S HOW.

thefannibalfeed:

We are frequently asked how fans of #Hannibal can help increase the ratings. Whereas watching the episodes live or by DVR within 3 days is crucial for the show’s Nielsen ratings, those viewings are measured only for Nielsen families. So if you’re not a Nielsen family,…

having worked for Nielsen, I just want everyone to know that it’s a common misconception that the ratings have anything to do with the shows themselves. the ratings have to do with who is watching the advertisements during the shows. that’s all they or the tv networks care about. if the people the tv networks want to watch and advertise to aren’t watching the show, the amount of viewers doesn’t matter. if you don’t fall into the desired demo bucket, your view is a waste.

(it is good to call out the Nielsen families here, though. if you know a Nielsen family or are part of one, it’s because you are the best average representation of your community. crazy stuff, huh?)

all content you know and love that’s not behind a paywall or a subscription service is beholden to advertising. but Nielsen is measuring online content too. and here’s a pretty decent breakdown of what matters.

Animated artwork by Rebecca Mock

Fine, detailed and subtle animated artwork created by New York illustrator Rebecca Mock. Apparently the animated gif back to stay, gradually more and more people are exploring this old format and customers asking for shouting. Several of these illustrations were created for the New York Times or The Warlus magazine.

Beautiful gif art. <3
