Peter Joseph on structural violence, from this video.

WORD. Violence can take many forms.

This resonates with the misconception that rape is always violent, instead of something that can happen quietly with the victim passed out or too scared to fight. What an astute perspective on our understanding of violence.

"Instead, I’ve discovered that gender identity is, for me, never resolved, never clear. I am and am not a man. I am transgender. I am very sure of this and not at all sure what it means. The same is true for her with bisexual identity. Bisexuality is not a corridor through which one moves from straight to lesbian (or vice versa). It is a constant both-ness that can sometimes feel like a neither-nor proposition. It is both something and nothing."

Nobody gives the black girl mob credit for being smart as fuck. They clown but at the end of the day they are really intelligent.

And it’s not subtle at all.
Taystee is a math prodigy in addition to being well-read, Poussey is multilingual, Cindy just knows shit, Suzanne studies Shakespeare, Watson was a good student in addition to being a track star, Vee is basically an evil genius. Piper often learns the most from them; they taught her how to fight and helped translate Pennsatucky’s biblical threat.
The show flat out acknowledges the (academic) intelligence of the black inmates time and time again, but the audience collectively ignores it.

The Mighty Boosh is something we take very seriously, so you have as much fun as you do with anything that you work hard at. The idea is just for it to look like effortless nonsense but that’s always quite a hard thing to achieve.” Julian Barratt

Gonna keep a tally of messages I get from a) white feminists completely proving my point and b) people who think this comic proves feminism is worthless because I criticized one part of it. (Even despite me writing these words underneath the comic.) Then I’ll add them all up, see which column has more, and then drink myself to sleep either way.
Haha… this is why we can’t have nice things.
